Almost Impossible Task Completed on Time Platte County, Missouri, recently revamped and completely updated the county's assessment and tax collection system. The county began by utilizing a new, on-site mainframe computer and internally developed software. Unfortunately, but luckily, the county's information systems department revealed that none of the existing personal property or real estate records would be compatible in the format of the new software . . . and that most of the existing records could not be converted. As a result, two years of massive data (collections for the current year and assessments for the following year) had to be re-entered - fast and with virtually perfect accuracy. With just six months remaining until the following year's tax bills were to be mailed, Platte County Assessor Chris McQuitty called Info-Data Services for assistance. Assessor McQuitty said of her office's relationship with Info-Data, "We were initially impressed that their client list included companies like Hallmark, McDonald's and Kansas City Power & Light." Virtually all the annual tax revenue of Platte County was dependent on Info-Data's successful completion of the project. Using a team of experienced keyers, Info-Data re-keyed the county's property ownership and valuation data. Over 40,000 records, each with a multitude of keystrokes, were entered. Throughout the process, Info-Data also acted as a consultant to the assessor's office and liaison to the county's IS department.
