Platte County, Missouri, recently revamped and completely updated the county's assessment and tax collection system. The county began by utilizing a new, on-site mainframe computer and internally developed software. Unfortunately, but luckily, the county's information systems department revealed that none of the existing personal property or real estate records would be compatible in the format of the new software . . . and that most of the existing records could not be converted.
